FDLE arrests Liberty County elections supervisor for fraud, misconduct

Posted on May 1, 2020

Acting on an arrest warrant obtained by inspectors from FDLE’s Office of Executive Investigations, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office today arrested Liberty County Supervisor of Elections (SOE) Gina McDowell on one count of organized scheme to defraud and two counts of official misconduct.

Investigators found that over a period of several years McDowell and a companion utilized more than $40,000 in SOE funds for personal expenditures not associated with SOE official business. The investigation also showed that McDowell attempted to conceal the fraud via misrepresentations within public records. A warrant for one count of organized scheme to defraud was obtained for McDowell’s companion, Nolan Kobe Pigott.

State Attorney Jack Campbell’s Office assisted with the investigation.

McDowell was booked into the Liberty County Jail today. The case will be prosecuted by the State Attorney’s Office, Second Judicial Circuit.
