In an effort to boost transparency into an unemployment benefits system fraught with delays and little accountability, Senate Democratic Leader Audrey Gibson (D-Jacksonville) on Tuesday announced a “Florida Unemployment Benefits Watch” of the number of Floridians still waiting for their benefits to be paid. The clock’s starting date is March 9, 2020, the same day announced by Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration as the start date for retroactivity.
The “Florida Unemployment Benefits Watch” will be updated and distributed to the public on a daily basis.
