What: In an effort to expedite construction on Florida Avenue, between Ariana Street and Lime Street in downtown Lakeland, crews will install traffic separators during the day on Saturday, May 16, 2020. The work will require a southbound daytime lane closure with southbound traffic shifted to the center turn lane. Northbound traffic will remain in the northbound lane. Traffic will be monitored during this period to see if additional work can be accomplished on future Saturdays. All other work requiring lane closures will be done at night, Sunday through Friday nights. Motorists should use caution and be prepared to merge.
This project includes reducing the number of travel lanes from two lanes in each direction with a center turn lane to one lane in each direction with a center turn lane, rebuilding the mid-block crossing between Palmetto Street and Hickory Street and upgrading and realigning signal equipment.
