Motorists should be aware of an upcoming three-day detour when traveling on Pennsylvania Avenue at the railroad crossing between U.S. 41/N. Williams Street and Bostick Street. Railroad crossing work will begin at 5 a.m., Friday, June 19, until 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21. Traffic will be detoured to State Road 40 and U.S. 41.
The railroad crossings will be completely closed during this time. Detour signage is planned to direct motorists to the alternate routes.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is providing project support to Florida Northern Railroad Company, Inc. so they can safely conduct the work. These closures are necessary to upgrade the railroad crossings, which increases safety for both motor vehicles and train traffic. Construction times and schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other circumstances.
For more information about the project, contact Frank Myszewski with the Florida Northern Railroad Company, Inc. at 407-466-0806.
For questions, please contact the FDOT District Five Communications Office at [email protected].
FDOT urges motorists to use caution near all railroad crossings and when driving in areas with road construction. Please slow down, follow posted detour signs and stay alert.
