Representing her strong commitment to protecting Florida’s environment for generations to come, Sierra Club Florida has endorsed Patricia Sigman for State Senate District 9.
Sierra Club Florida is a chapter of the national Sierra Club and is made up of over 32,000 members throughout the state. Their mission is to enjoy, explore and protect the natural places in Florida, to teach others to understand and respect the fragile environment in which we live, and to practice and promote the responsible use of Florida’s ecosystems and resources.
“Sierra Club Florida is proud to endorse Patricia Sigman for Senate District 9,” declared Deborah Foote, Political Director for Sierra Club Florida. “After considerable engagement and consideration, we believe that she is the candidate who will work to protect our natural resources, to restore water quality, and take action to combat climate change.”
Since announcing her campaign for Senate District 9, Patricia Sigman has generated incredible momentum for her campaign with strong and steady fundraising, the endorsement of Senate Democratic Leader Designate Gary Farmer and the support of Senate Victory, and the endorsements of former Education Commissioner Betty Castor, former Democratic Lieutenant Governor nominee Chris King, former Congresswoman Gwen Graham, former Democratic Attorney General nominee Sean Shaw, former Florida CFO Alex Sink, former Orlando Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy and his wife Kim, Equality Florida Action PAC, and Ruth’s List Florida.
“Protecting and preserving Florida’s environment has to be a top priority for anyone in elected office,” stated Patricia Sigman. “Our state’s natural treasures are enjoyed by millions of Floridians every year and are an economic driver that create jobs for thousands. I am excited to have the endorsement of Sierra Club Florida and to work with them to ensure Floridians have clean drinking water and that important areas like Seminole County’s rural boundary continue to be protected for generations to come.”
An open seat due to term limits, State Senate District 9 encompasses all of Seminole County and a portion of western Volusia County. As the fastest changing red-to-blue State Senate district in Florida, Democratic performance increased at the top of the ticket by five points from the 2016 to 2018 election. Senate Victory sees this district as poised to flip and is committed to Patricia’s election in 2020.
