In recognition of her career fighting for the rights of workers, SEIU Florida has endorsed Patricia Sigman for State Senate District 9.
Representing over 55,000 members statewide, SEIU Florida serves as a powerful voice for working Floridians fighting for fair wages, equality, and justice on behalf of the people who power our state.
“Patricia Sigman’s career has been dedicated to fighting for and protecting the rights of Florida workers,” said Marth Baker, President of the SEIU Florida State Council. “As the issues with Florida’s broken unemployment system have been amplified during this pandemic, it is clear we need people in the State Senate who know the issues and are ready to tackle them on day one. Patricia Sigman is that person and that’s why the SEIU Florida and our members are proud to endorse her campaign.”
Since announcing her campaign for Senate District 9, Patricia Sigman has generated incredible momentum for her campaign with strong and steady fundraising, the endorsement of Senate Democratic Leader Designate Gary Farmer and the support of Senate Victory, and the endorsements of former Education Commissioner Betty Castor, former Democratic Lieutenant Governor nominee Chris King, former Congresswoman Gwen Graham, former Democratic Attorney General nominee Sean Shaw, former Florida CFO Alex Sink, former Orlando Magic Head Coach Stan Van Gundy and his wife Kim, Equality Florida Action PAC, EMILY’s List, Ruth’s List Florida, and Sierra Club Florida. Patricia Sigman has also been awarded the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate Distinction.
“SEIU Florida has been a powerful advocate for our state’s workers for years,” stated Patricia Sigman. “Florida’s frontline workers are vital and important to our state. As a Florida Bar Board Certified Labor & Employment Lawyer, I am honored to have the endorsement of SEIU Florida and its members and I am ready to get to work in Tallahassee as the Senator for District 9.”
An open seat due to term limits, State Senate District 9 encompasses all of Seminole County and a portion of western Volusia County. As the fastest changing red-to-blue State Senate district in Florida, Democratic performance increased at the top of the ticket by five points from the 2016 to 2018 election. Senate Victory sees this district as poised to flip and is committed to Patricia’s election in 2020.
