In Light of Personal Attacks on Opponents via a Disgusting Website and the Promoting
of Misinformation, Sheriff Says that Clay County Residents Deserves Better
In light of the recent personal attacks on opponents via a disgusting website and the promotion of misinformation by some, the reelection campaign for Darryl Daniels is releasing the following statement from the Sheriff.
“Dirty political campaigning is just that: dirty. It’s in poor taste and it shows true character; a character that does not lend itself to the standards that the title of sheriff demand. There are several instances of dirty politics that have presented themselves in the race for Clay County sheriff. One example is an assortment of allegations against another candidate’s conduct, citing her children and relationships via an abhorrent website and via a whisper campaign. Another is a misinformation scheme that leads voters to believe I am not running for re-election. Both instances are uncalled for, petty, and are not indicative of the standards that one would want to see as the highest ranking law enforcement official in the county. The Daniels campaign will not stoop to those levels, but we will continue to work to take on another four years to expand the work that we have already done in our community. Clay County has a long history of bad politics. Let us be the campaign cycle that breaks that cycle and I ask all candidates in this race to pledge that they will not engage in dirty politics. As the country works to overcome the COVID-19 situation as well as respond to the national conversation on the relationships between law enforcement and the community, Clay County needs and deserves better,” said Sheriff Darryl Daniels.
