Legislation to Expand Access to Outdoor Activities & Wildlife Conservation Signed Into Law

Posted on June 30, 2020

Governor Ron DeSantis recently signed Senate Bill (SB) 1414 into law. This legislation further protects the rights of sportsmen by prohibiting the harassment of hunters, fishers and trappers while on public and private lands or waters. The number of free fishing days will also be extended under this bill to provide expanded opportunities for Floridians to discover why Florida is the fishing capital of the world. Finally, SB 1414 adds two environmentally dangerous species to the list of Conditional Nonnative species to include the Green Iguana and Black & White Tegu.

“This important legislation makes great strides in preserving wildlife and their ecosystems, while also protecting the rights of Floridians to hunt and fish,” said Senator Debbie Mayfield. “Thank you Governor Ron DeSantis for your continued commitment to restoring our environment and supporting Florida sportsmen.”
