Chris King, CEO of Elevation Financial Group and 2018 Democratic Nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Florida, announced July 21 two new candidate endorsements, as well as the first slate of guests for Let’s Talk, a new online discussion series to promote and support progressive candidates during the 2020 election cycle.
One day after announcing his endorsement of Shevrin Jones for Senate District 35, King again expanded the number of legislative candidates he is supporting this cycle. Joining the list of endorsed candidates are Angie Nixon, candidate for Florida House District 14 in Duval County, and Omari Hardy, candidate for Florida House District 88 in Palm Beach County.
King also announced a new weekly online discussion series, Let’s Talk, focused on addressing the most significant challenges facing Florida and the United States today and lifting up the campaigns and candidates he supports. The series will broadcast live on Facebook, debuting Sunday, July 26 at 7pm with Shevrin Jones. Florida House district 70 candidate Michele Rayner (previously endorsed), Nixon, and Hardy will round out the first four programs taking place in advance of Florida’s August 18 primary. After the primary, the series will continue with new guests weekly until Election Day in November.
“From equity and justice to fair housing and education, Angie Nixon is a smart and fearless advocate,” said King, “I know she will bring transformational leadership to north Florida and beyond, and I’m proud to endorse her for Florida House District 14.”
Citing Hardy’s work as an educator, King said, “Omari Hardy has spent his career building the next generation of Florida’s leaders and standing up for the people of Palm Beach County. I know he’ll take authenticity and accountability with him to Tallahassee. That’s why I endorse him for Florida House District 88.”
“This is the most consequential election of our lifetime,” King said of his Let’s Talk program, “and while we are all doing everything we can to elect Joe Biden in November, we also have an opportunity to elect a transformational slate of Democrats running for office throughout our state. Our goal is to highlight some of the most exciting candidates who will help usher in the new era Florida desperately needs.”
