Motorists should be advised that traffic on State Road (S.R.) 33 is being shifted to a temporary bridge to allow crews to begin demolishing the old Green Swamp Bridge and start building a replacement. The shift will occur on Wednesday morning, July 22, subject to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
During preparations for the shift, the traffic signals at each end of the bridge will be temporarily deactivated this evening, and flaggers will be present to direct northbound and southbound motorists across the old bridge on an alternating basis. On Wednesday morning, traffic will be shifted to the adjacent temporary bridge, which is also a single-lane structure. Traffic signals at both ends of the bridge will be reactivated and will control traffic flow.
As has been the case for several months, northbound and southbound traffic cannot cross at the same time.
Please reduce your speed approaching the bridge and exercise caution in the work zone.
