The Florida Department of Transportation is beginning intersection improvements on SR 64 at Greyhawk Boulevard/Pope Road in Manatee County. A new multi-lane modern roundabout will be constructed at the intersection complete with pedestrian activated crossings on all legs of the roundabout, drainage improvements, new roundabout lighting, and landscaping. The project also includes a new traffic signal and crosswalks at SR 64 and 117th Street East.
Construction begins on Monday, August 3, 2020 and should be completed late Summer 2021.
During construction, Pope Road at SR 64 will close starting Monday, August 3, 2020, and SR 64 will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
Manatee County will open the White Eagle Boulevard connection to SR 64 at Rye Road on Saturday, August 1, 2020. Motorists wishing to use Pope Road from SR 64 may use White Eagle Boulevard as an alternative.
The speed limit through the construction zone on SR 64 will be reduced to 45 mph throughout construction. FDOT reminds motorists to use caution and be aware of construction workers in the construction zone.
