Governor Ron DeSantis today announced the appointments of Emily Curington to the Lake County Court and Brett Szematowicz to the Pinellas County Court. Szematowicz’s appointment marks the 100th judicial appointment made by Governor Desantis since taking office. Of the Governor’s appointments to date, 46% are female, 33% racially diverse, including 13% black, and an average age of 44 years old.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Agnes Scott College and her law degree from T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. Curington fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Cary Rada to the Fifth Circuit Court.

Brett Szematowicz
