The Miami Herald reported today on a report from the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee that uncovered former Trump Campaign Manager Paul Manafort met with Fidel Castro’s son in Cuba in 2017.
In responding to another instance of a Trump advisor cozying up to a brutal dictatorship, Senator Jose Javier Rodriguez (D-Miami) issues the following statement:
“The contents of the bombshell U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee report further exposes the hypocrisy and corruption coming from the President of the United States when it comes to Latin America policy. While so many of us fight for democracy and freedom in Cuba, Trump and his allies have said one thing and done the opposite, pandering in Miami for votes while cozying up to the Castro regime for profit. This is yet another confirmation that the president’s agenda has been clear from day one: cozy up to the region’s brutal dictators and undermine the fight for democracy if it benefits him and his circle.”
