Traffic Advisory: Eastbound and Westbound Interstate 4 Lane Shifts

Posted on August 28, 2020

Includes full westbound Interstate 4 closure, and ramp
closures between John Young Parkway and Kaley Avenue

The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) I-4 Ultimate project is shifting eastbound and westbound Interstate 4 (I-4) travel lanes into their final configuration between John Young Parkway (Exit 79) and Kaley Avenue (Exit 81) on Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30. Details of each shift are as follows:

  • Eastbound I-4 between John Young Parkway and Kaley Ave. will be in its final footprint as early as Saturday morning, August 29. The shift eliminates the temporary ramp configuration over Orange Blossom Trail, returning interchange ramps to a more traditional alignment.

To implement the shift, the eastbound entrance ramp from John Young Parkway and the eastbound exits and entrance ramps at Orange Blossom Trail and Kaley Avenue will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, August 28, to 7 a.m. Saturday, August 29.

I-4 motorists may encounter up to two lanes closed on eastbound I-4 between 10 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday. Please view or download this handout for more information.

  • Westbound I-4 between Michigan Street and John Young Parkway will be in its final footprint as early as Sunday morning, August 30.

To implement the shift, westbound I-4 from Kaley Avenue to John Young Parkway and the westbound I-4 entrance ramps from Kaley Avenue and Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 441/17-92) will close August 30 from midnight to 6 a.m.

Please review or download this handout for more information.

All motorists are urged to avoid distractions, follow posted signage, and drive safely.

Modifications or extensions to these schedules may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are encouraged to follow @I4Ultimate on Twitter or visit I4Ultimate.com for updates.
