Nightly detours and lane closures are planned at the intersection of John Young Parkway (State Road (S.R.) 423) and Princeton Street from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31 through Friday, Sept. 4. The left lane closures through the intersection are needed for paving operations. Please note this schedule could change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct traffic around the closures using the following detour routes (see map):

  • Eastbound Princeton Street: To either continue east on Princeton Street or travel north on John Young Parkway, turn right at Mercy Drive and then left onto WD Judge Drive to access northbound John Young Parkway.
  • Westbound Princeton Street: To either continue west on Princeton Street or travel south on John Young Parkway, turn right at Lynx Lane to access southbound John Young Parkway.
  • Southbound John Young Parkway: To travel east on Princeton Street, turn left at Lynx Lane and then left onto Princeton Street.
  • Northbound John Young Parkway: To travel west on Princeton Street, turn left at WD Judge Drive, right onto Mercy Drive and then left onto Princeton Street.

Both northbound and southbound right lanes on John Young Parkway will remain open to through traffic.

The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen John Young Parkway from S.R. 50 to Shader Road.

Media inquiries should be directed to the FDOT Communications Office at [email protected] or by phone at 386-943-5593. Project information is also available online at www.CFLRoads.com.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
