Working with Ruth’s List, Party Leaders to
Flip Districts Won by Gov/Lt. Gov Ticket in 2018
Chris King, CEO of Elevation Financial Group and 2018 Democratic Nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Florida, announced the next phase of his successful Let’s Talk online series will focus on highlighting Democratic candidates working to flip Districts won or nearly won by King as part of the Democratic ticket in 2018. The candidates will also receive endorsements from King.
King and Democratic nominee for Governor of Florida Andrew Gillum won seven Florida House districts that also elected Republican legislators in 2018. King announced his intention to endorse and feature all seven Democratic candidates from those districts, as well as candidates from additional districts nearly captured by Democrats that year.
“What Andrew and I started in 2018, these transformational candidates are prepared to finish,” said King. “Our goal is to see a Democratic legislator in every one of these districts, and I’m committed to seeing that happen this November.”
The “Gillum-King Seven” – candidates in districts won by the top of the ticket in 2018 but with GOP incumbents – are:Kayser Enneking (HD 21), Patrick Henry (HD 26), Jim Bonfiglio (HD 89), Maureen Porras (HD 105), Franccesca Cesti-Browne (HD 115), Ricky Junquera (HD 118), and Clint Barras (HD 120).
Additional candidates included in King’s program are Pasha Baker (HD28), Tracey Kagan (HD 29), Andrew Learned(HD59), Julie Jenkins (HD 60) and Jessica Harrington (HD64).
The next episode, co-sponsored by Ruth’s List, will air Thursday, September 3 at 7pm live on King’s Facebook and Twitter pages, featuring candidates Pasha Baker and Tracey Kagan. “Flipping these districts is a team effort, and we’re thrilled to partner with a leader like Chris King to lift up the fantastic slate of Democratic women running for office throughout our state,” said Ruth’s List Florida Interim CEO Barbara Zdravecky.
King has also worked with leaders of the House Democratic Caucus on the program. “Chris King’s commitment to seeing our candidates cross the finish line shows just how important these races are,” said House Democratic Co-Leader Designee Rep. Bobby DuBose (D-Fort Lauderdale). “This election will send to the Capitol the largest Democratic caucus in over a decade, and these impressive new members will usher in a new era of Democratic leadership in Tallahassee.”
First launched in July, King’s Let’s Talk online discussion series has aired six episodes featuring eight transformational Democratic candidates, averaging over 12,500 views per episode. All four of the Democratic Primary candidates featured went on to win their August 18 primaries.
