Palm Beach County man becomes Florida’s 14th POWERBALL® jackpot winner

Posted on September 4, 2020

The Florida Lottery announces that William Kruger, of Lantana, claimed the $169 million jackpot from the POWERBALL® drawing held on August 12, 2020 using a secured drop box located at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $140,145,006.00.

Kruger purchased his jackpot-winning Quick Pick ticket from Publix, located at 4770 North Congress Avenue in Boynton Beach. The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus commission for selling the jackpot-winning POWERBALL ticket.

The next POWERBALL drawing will be held tomorrow, September 5, at 10:59 p.m. ET with an estimated $66 million jackpot. National POWERBALL drawings are broadcast live, in high-definition, from the Florida Lottery’s state of the art draw studio in Tallahassee. Florida Lottery game drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state. Drawings are also available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.

To help protect employees and players during the COVID-19 outbreak, Florida Lottery Headquarters and district offices remain closed to the public until further notice. Players who have winning tickets are encouraged to utilize the Lottery’s secured drop box located at each district office or mail tickets to Florida Lottery Headquarters or their nearest district office. All claim deadlines have been extended, giving players the option to hold on to winning tickets and wait to claim any prizes until Lottery offices reopen to the public.
