Florida A&M University (FAMU) alumnus Kenward “Kenny” Stone has been appointed to the University’s Board of Trustees.
Gov. Ron DeSantis named Stone, co-chief executive officer of Broughton Pharmaceuticals, to fill one of two vacancies on the Board Tuesday. His appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
“I am so proud to join the Board of Trustees and give back to an institution that provided such a transformative experience. Florida A&M provided a firm foundation for future growth across all aspects of my life – faith, family, business and community,” Stone said. “I look forward to working with all stakeholders and delivering solutions that prepare FAMU for the future, while also maintaining the built-in characteristics that make the University so special.”
A resident of Savannah, Georgia, Stone graduated from the FAMU School of Business & Industry (SBI) with a bachelor’s in business administration in 2009. He later completed an MBA at Harvard University. Stone is also co-founder and managing partner of SL Group Investors, New York. His career in the financial sector includes stints at Barclays Bank and Citigroup.
FAMU President Larry Robinson, Ph.D., welcomed Stone’s appointment.
“On behalf of the University community, I welcome Kenward Stone to our Board of Trustees and thank Governor DeSantis for selecting this outstanding FAMU alumnus to serve his alma mater in this new capacity,” Robinson said.
