House Speaker-Designate Chris Sprowls announced that Rep. Jay Trumbull will serve as the 2021-2022 Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. This post is one of the most significant leadership positions in the legislature as it oversees the budgetary process for all state government expenditures for Florida.
“I want to thank Speaker-Designate Sprowls for his faith in me, and I am looking forward to working with him in this position,” said Chairman Trumbull. “Florida is facing challenges, but I am confident that if we continue to govern with the same conservative principles that have served us well in the past, we will have more than enough to fund education, healthcare, and our public safety while also protecting the taxpayers and consumers that elected us.”
With today’s announcement, it is clear that Rep. Trumbull will continue to play a significant role in leadership and will be an important voice for Bay County and the Panhandle in Florida’s budgeting process.
CFO Jimmy Patronis, Florida’s elected State Chief Financial Officer and the former State Representative for Bay County congratulated Trumbull: “I’ve known Jay Trumbull his whole life; he is one of the hardest-working people I know both in business and in his public service positions. He’s a fighter for Florida’s families and always puts them first. He will also be an incredible protector of Florida’s taxpayer money, and that’s exactly what we need as our economy continues to recover from the effects of the pandemic.”
Rep. Trumbull was just elected to his fourth term as the state representative for Florida’s sixth district, a district that encompasses almost all of Bay County. He and his wife Brittany and their children Merritt and Trip live in Panama City.
