In Broward and Palm Beach County
In preparation for Tropical Storm Eta, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), will begin locking down all state drawbridges in Broward and Palm Beach Counties eight hours in advance of tropical storm-force winds (39 mph or higher). The bridges will be closed to marine navigation once lockdowns are complete and will remain closed for the duration of severe weather and until the drawbridges and waterways can be assessed for damages.
State drawbridges in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River Counties are not presently expected to close; however, this is subject to changes in the weather.
Mariners are encouraged to frequently check the USCG Notice to Mariners for updates and additional information at Sector Miami, homeport.uscg.mil/port-directory/miami.
