Florida Veterans Foundation and Duke Energy’s Operation We Care
The Florida Veterans Foundation and Duke Energy partnered on the Operation We Care: Holiday Cards for Heroes initiative to share holiday cheer, appreciation and encouragement to Sunshine State veterans this holiday season.
Duke Energy employees created holiday cards that are being distributed to veterans statewide through more than 35 Veterans service organizations.
“Our veterans have made significant sacrifices as they fought for causes larger than themselves, and at Duke Energy, we are proud to recognize and honor those sacrifices,” said Catherine Stempien, president of Duke Energy Florida. “This year, with volunteerism limited by COVID-19, our employees accepted the challenge to volunteer in a different way. They eagerly stepped up to participate in Operation We Care. Sending holiday cards is a simple gesture that can mean so much, especially during a pandemic.”
The Florida Veterans Foundation serves as the lead statewide organization for Florida veterans and their families by providing direct services and partnering with state and local governments, veteran service organizations, and educational institutions to improve their physical, financial, mental, emotional, and social well-being.
“It is imperative that we continue to remember these Veterans who make sacrifices in their lives every day to allow us to live in freedom, Lew Wilson, President, Florida Veterans Foundation, it doesn’t cost anything to give them hope and encouragement and say thank you for your service.”
