The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public meeting regarding project plans on Montreal Avenue (eastbound State Road 518) from U.S. 1 to Pineapple Avenue in Melbourne on Tuesday, January 19, at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of this project is to extend the life of the existing roadway by repaving Montreal Avenue from U.S. 1 to Pineapple Avenue and improve pedestrian and bicycle safety along the corridor. Proposed design elements include adding landscaped curb extensions, removing six on-street parking spaces from the outside right lane, adding 11 on-street parking spaces to the inside left lane, adding a 7-foot-wide buffered bike lane, and modifying existing sidewalks. The public meeting is being held to present information and receive community feedback.
The Department is offering multiple ways for the community to participate in the meeting. All participants, regardless of platform they choose, will receive the same information on the proposed project.
