Florida Capitol Closed Until 9 a.m., Thursday January 21, 2021

Posted on January 21, 2021

Out of an abundance of caution, Florida’s Capitol is closed to employees until 9 a.m. this morning, Thursday, January 21, 2021.

A bomb threat was made regarding the Florida Capitol overnight. Florida’s Capitol Complex has been swept by law enforcement and explosive detecting K-9’s. No explosive devices were found and nothing suspicious identified.

Capitol Police were notified of a bomb threat before 3 a.m., and immediately began sweeping the Capitol and Capitol Complex. Tallahassee Police Department and the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force are investigating the threat.

“If You See Something, Say Something®” Report suspicious activity by calling (850) 488-1790 or 1-800-FLA-SAFE.  You can also download the See Something, Say Something App in the Apple App or Google Play stores.

If necessary, additional information regarding the Capitol will be released through this Alert system and FDLE’s Twitter Account.

The Capitol Complex is secure, but remains closed due to COVID-19.
