MEDIA ADVISORY
The Florida House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday is scheduled to consider legislation needed to modernize Florida’s obsolete alimony law and make it consistent with the law in 44 other states.
Rep. Anthony Rodriguez’s proposal (CS/HB 1559) would end the award of permanent alimony in Florida. The Senate Judiciary Committee last week passed companion legislation (CS/SB 1922) sponsored by Sen. Joe Gruters, of Sarasota. That measure is pending in the Florida Senate Rules Committee.
