The Florida Governor, House, and Senate today announced a special session to ratify a new gaming compact.
Rep. Chip LaMarca, sponsor of this year’s sports wagering legislation, said, “I’m very happy to see that legalized, safe, and regulated sports wagering will be included in the new compact. It is about time that Florida joins the other states and gives our residents and tourists this additional entertainment choice.”
Rep. Anika Omphroy said, “This is good news for Florida’s economy. Residents have been sending millions of dollars out of state through online sports betting and those dollars should stay in here state.”
