Virtual Event May 13-14
Florida Virtual Campus (FLVC) will host its Open Educational Resources (OER) Summit on May 13-14. The annual event brings together state and national educators and technology leaders to share information on expanding student access to no-cost textbooks and other learning materials. This year’s two-day Summit will be hosted in a live, online virtual environment.
OERs are educational materials that are free for students and educators to use, thereby making learning more affordable, especially for college students.
“With the OER Summit going virtual this year, it provides those who may not have been able to previously attend an opportunity to delve into the world of OER,” said Rebel Cummings-Sauls, FLVC’s director of digital services and open education resources. “As college students across Florida look for ways to reduce the cost of textbooks and supplies, we hope this summit provides attendees with the tools and resources they need to better help their students gain access to OER materials.”
This year’s summit will explore tools and resources to help faculty, students, librarians, instructional designers, support services, and higher education administrators in their OER journey at their home institution.
Among the topics for this year’s FLVC OER Summit:
- Sustainable OER
- Grant recipient stories
- Supplementary; Beyond the textbook
- Integrations with the Learning Management System
- Standards and Copyright
Both days of the summit begin at 9 a.m. ET. The agenda for the event can be viewed at FLVC OER Summit 2021 Agenda Page.
