“The Stronger Safer Florida Coalition commends the legislature and Governor Ron DeSantis for their efforts to increase Florida’s resiliency and protect our at-risk communities with the passage and signage of the Resilient Florida Grant Program. Its implementation will provide local governments with funds to address sea-level rise and other climate change related flooding.
The program aims to boost protections for both coastal and in-land communities from the effects of sea level rise, severe storm events, and localized flooding. Speaker Sprowls deems the measure as “one of the most robust and bold proposals in the entire United States of America to tackle sea level rise and coastal flooding of any state.”
With many environmental challenges on the horizon in Florida, we are encouraged with the program’s passage. We urge our state leaders to continue focusing on these important climate related challenges.
