State Representative Trumbull praised Gov. Ron DeSantis for signing a budget
that includes significant infrastructure investments for Bay County.
Gov. Ron DeSantis today signed the largest budget in Florida history, coming on the heels of one of the most disrupted economies ever seen. The $101 billion budget will take effect on July 1 and will be an important stabilizer as Florida’s economy rebounds. In November, Rep. Jay Trumbull was appointed Chair of the Appropriations Committee by House Speaker Chris Sprowls. In this capacity, Trumbull managed the entire budget process for the Florida House and led negotiations with the Florida Senate during the budget conference.
“I’m honored to have had the responsibility for leading this budget process,” said Rep. Jay Trumbull. “It was a difficult and unpredictable year, with revenue projections fluctuating wildly as we considered the best steps for getting our economy back on track. I’m glad we have a way forward and can continue rebuilding the Bay County economy.”
Chairman Trumbull noted the following appropriations that will benefit Bay County:
- $8 Million for Bay County Crayfish Habitat Restoration
- $1 Million for Bay County’s North Bay Water Quality Improvement Program
- $95,000 for the Bay Youth Summer Work Foundation
- $1 Million for Lynn Haven’s Wastewater Stormwater improvements
- Over $600,000 for the Panama City Beach Fire Training Tower
- $3 Million for the Kings Bayou/Pretty Bayou Sewer and Water System Expansion
- $1.5 Million for Millville’s Wastewater Treatment Plant Relocation Assessment
- $3.25 Million for removing and relocating the sanitary sewer line from St. Andrews Bay
- $1 million for the Transitional Living Housing For Homeless Youth
- Funding for the Gulf Coast State College STEM building
