Earlier this morning a horrific tragedy occurred from a partial collapse of the Champlain Condo’s South Tower, in the City of Surfside. Sen. Jason Pizzo (Democrat-Miami) issued the following statement:
“This is a painful moment for our community as families endure pain from the partial collapse of the condo tower in Surfside. Our team is coordinating with local and state resources to effectively deploy all available aid and need as our brave first responders work to save lives during this critical phase of search and rescue.
“We will work with families who are eager to learn more through the Family Reunification designated area and urge those who need information to call the hotline at 305-614-1819 or go to miamidade.gov/emergency.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy that will require our attention in the hours, days and weeks to come, and we will provide the needed support and comfort to our fellow neighbors and residents as they navigate this enormously difficult time.”
