The University of Tampa Education Department Announces Partnership with Bethune-Cookman University for Master’s Program

Posted on June 24, 2021

Program guarantees qualified graduates of Bethune-Cookman University
acceptance into UT’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction

The University of Tampa announced an agreement this week that guarantees qualified students and graduates from Bethune-Cookman University admission into UT’s Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction.

Bethune-Cookman students must have received a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts with specified teaching certification. These qualified students and alumni will receive special admissions consideration from UT, including waivers of application fees, references and resumes. A completed graduate admissions application, transcripts and statement of good standing will still be required.

UT and Bethune-Cookman are all accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The CAEP standards ensure that students who graduate from CAEP accredited institutions will have the intellectual ability, aptitude in research, professional skills, personal character and potential for future productive scholarship to successfully complete UT’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction.

UT’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction program enhances students’ teaching and leadership skills, and students who enroll in the program wish to become better educators and recognized leaders. The program emphasizes curriculum theory, pedagogy and innovation in education, educational advocacy, social dimensions of learning, instructional design, leadership and research. M.Ed. students at UT benefit from small classes and close interactions with expert faculty who possess extensive K-12 experience and hold doctoral degrees in education.

“UT’s reputation for curricular quality and real-world results sets it apart among graduate education programs,” said Theoni Soublis, professor of education and program director of the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. “This partnership provides Bethune-Cookman students a respected degree that will serve them throughout their careers.”

Qualified students and alumni who have earned a bachelor’s degree in an education area from UT are also guaranteed admission to UT’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction program.

For more information about UT’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, or about the UT/Bethune-Cookman agreement, contact UT’s Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies at (813) 253-6249 or email [email protected].
