Mast Encourages Interested Students to Apply for Service Academy Nominations

Posted on October 4, 2021

U.S. Congressman Brian Mast (FL-18) is currently accepting applications for nominations to the United States military service academies.

“There is honor and pride in serving our nation.  Doing so was the best decision of my life, and I know that there are countless young people who are also looking for a way to make an impact,” Rep. Mast said. “Attending a service academy is an excellent way to get a top-notch education and serve their country at the same time.”

Of the five military service academies – the U.S. Military Academy (West Point, NY), the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD), the Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, CO), the Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY) and the Coast Guard Academy (New London, CT) – all except the Coast Guard Academy require a federal nomination.  The nomination can be sought from the President, Vice President, a Senator or Congressman.

Eligible applicants must be:

  • Between 17 and 22 to 25 years old on July 1 of the year you enter the academy;
  • A U.S. citizen (with some exceptions);
  • Cannot be married;
  • Cannot be pregnant or have any dependents; and
  • Of good moral character.

Current enlisted servicemembers are also eligible to apply.

Interested students should visit www.mast.house.gov/service-academy-nominations for more information. The deadline for students to submit application materials is November 1, 2021.
