Through a partnership with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, the Florida Lottery (Lottery) is lighting the way for thousands of students to earn a Bright Futures Scholarship through the Lighting the Way to a Bright Future Project. This year’s $45,000 Lottery grant will fund standout projects that support students and families in taking the next steps to a successful higher education in Alachua, Bay, Broward, Clay, Collier, Hernando, Holmes, Okeechobee, and Seminole Counties.
“The Florida Lottery is proud to partner with the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, as they share the Lottery’s commitment to enhancing education at every level,” said Florida Lottery Secretary John F. Davis. “We are dedicated to making sure every student in Florida knows a brighter future is attainable and the programs selected to receive the Lottery’s 2021-2022 Lighting the Way to a Brighter Future grant will provide tangible opportunities for students to develop and apply their skills as they prepare for college.”

While all Florida students have access to a Bright Futures Scholarship, the Lottery recognizes that additional support may be needed to meet the criteria and prepare for higher education success, especially for students of low socio-economic backgrounds and aspiring first-generation college students.
Each of the nine education foundations will receive $5,000 for their selected projects; they are focused on SAT/ACT test prep, FAFSA completion assistance, and financial literacy and scholarship workshops. The Bright Futures Scholarship Program is primarily funded by the Lottery and was created by the Florida Legislature in 1997 to assist students in pursuing post-secondary educational and career goals. Since the program’s inception, the Lottery has generated more than $6.8 billion to help more than 880,000 students achieve their dreams of a higher education.
