Florida A&M University’s (FAMU) School of Journalism & Graphic Communication (SJGC) will host “Beyond the Newsroom: Where Your Journalism Degree Can Take You” 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28 in the SJGC Lecture Hall featuring Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance-Bottoms and other alumnae.
The panel discussion also includes Yolanda Cade, director public relations-Disney Signature Experiences; and Denise Hendricks, executive producer of The Cross Connection & The Sunday Show on MSNBC. Elise Durham, director of communications for Mayor Lance-Bottoms, will serve as moderator.
All four women attended FAMU in the 1990s.
“I’m thrilled to join other alumni at “Grads Are Back” and inspire the next generation of FAMU Rattlers,” said Lance Bottoms. “I hope that our stories motivate them to go on and leave their mark on their communities.”
The conversation will highlight how journalism served as a foundation for their career trajectories and success in the public sector, corporate communications, and entertainment. The hour-long talk is part of the annual “Grads are Back” celebration during FAMU Homecoming 2021.
