LeadingAge Florida, Florida’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, issued a statement following Governor Ron DeSantis’ announcement that up to one million rapid tests will be distributed to assisted living facilities and nursing homes.
The following statement can be attributed to LeadingAge Florida President & CEO Steve Bahmer.
“We are grateful to the Governor for continuing to put seniors first. Our members serve the most vulnerable population and testing is critical for them to identify residents or staff that may have the virus, slow the spread of the virus and ultimately save lives.
We look forward to continuing our close partnership with multiple state agencies and the Executive Office of the Governor to ensure that the needs of long-term care providers, and their residents, continue to be front-of-mind for policy makers and others.”
For more than 58 years, LeadingAge Florida has been the state’s leading advocate for high-quality senior living, aging services and care. We are the only statewide association representing the full continuum of care for seniors. The Association provides up-to-date regulatory information, a wide variety of educational opportunities, representation before the Legislature and government agencies, group purchasing services, and opportunities for networking with peers to help member communities best serve the needs of Florida’s senior population.
