The Florida Conference of Black State Legislators Foundation in partnership with the Florida Legislative Black Caucus will host its Annual State of Black Florida Events on January 20-22, 2022 in Tallahassee, Florida. Leaders and stakeholders from across the state will have an opportunity to meet with state legislators to discuss critical issues currently affecting black Floridians and support the raising of funds for student scholarships.
The Annual State of Black Florida Events will begin in Tallahassee with a free and open to the public Chairman’s Welcome Reception starting at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Doubletree Hotel, 101 South Adams Street.
The Annual Kershaw-Cherry Legislative Luncheon will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Donald L Tucker Civic Center. The featured guest speaker will be Bishop Frank M. Reid, III, Presiding Prelate of the 11th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Bishop Reid is a preacher, teacher, author, community leader and motivational speaker. Bishop Reid currently presides over 400 churches in Florida and the Bahamas.
The Annual State of Black Florida Events will conclude with the Scholarship Gala Celebration at 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2022, at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center, where the Florida Conference of Black Legislators Foundation will recognize student scholarship recipients. In addition, gala attendees will be treated to opulent decor, delicious food, the humor of Comedian Mike “Tight Mike” Randolph, the sounds of local band Tallahassee Nights Live performing musical genres from R&B, hip hop, gospel and classic soul.
