Representative Hart’s Parole Bill Passes Unanimously Out of Justice Appropriations Subcommittee

On Tuesday, HB 169 – Parole Eligibility by Representative Dianne Hart (D- Tampa) passed out of the Justice Appropriations Subcommittee. This bill directs the Department of Corrections and the Florida Commission on Offender Review to create clear eligibility requirements for those seeking parole, with no fiscal impact to the state.

Representative Dianne Hart issued the following statement:

“I am excited to see this bill continue to move through the process. I am hoping to improve a overcrowded and overworked system through the legislation I file this bill does so without a negative fiscal impact to the state. It is my hope that this bill will make it to the House floor so that we can show Florida we are serious about real criminal justice reform.”
