The Florida House of Representatives last week unanimously passed House Memorial 43, calling on the federal government to condemn forcefully the ongoing human rights abuses by the Communist government in Cuba. Representative Susan L. Valdés (D-Tampa) issued the following statement:
“As a first-generation American-born daughter of Cuban immigrants, I know all too well the pain and anguish that the Cuban regime has caused in its decades of existence. I am honored to be part of this unanimous vote with my colleagues to send a message that the atrocities of the Communist regime that currently controls the island will not go unnoticed or be forgotten. I am proud to stand with the Cuban people in their struggle for freedom, and thank my colleagues in the Florida House for doing so as well.”
