On Wednesday, State Representative Dianne Hart’s Parole Eligibility bill (HB 169) passed out of the Judiciary Committee. This bill directs the Department of Corrections and the Florida Commission on Offender Review to create clear eligibility requirements for those seeking parole, with no fiscal impact to the state.
Representative Dianne Hart (D-Tampa) issued the following statement:
“I have carried this bill for four years, and I am grateful to see it get this far in the process. It is my hope that this bill will be allowed to go the House Floor in the coming days creating real change in Florida’s Criminal Justice System.”
