The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) today issued the following statement attributed to its vice president of state government relations Logan McFaddin regarding the passage of Senate Bill 1728, sponsored by Senator Jim Boyd, by the Florida Senate Committee on Appropriations.
“APCIA applauds the Florida Senate Appropriations Committee for advancing SB 1728 to the full Senate for consideration. SB 1728 contains important provisions aimed at bringing stability to Florida’s insurance marketplace and ultimately lowering costs for consumers. The language addressing unscrupulous roofing solicitation practices in SB 1728 is especially important.
“Florida’s property insurance market is in crisis as homeowners are seeing dramatic cost increases and less choice in the marketplace. The outcry among homeowners across the state for the legislature to act on property reforms this session is being heard by lawmakers. APCIA is hopeful that lawmakers in the House and Senate can continue working together to pass these critical reforms in the final two weeks of session.”
The American Property Casualty Insurance Association (APCIA) is the primary national trade association for home, auto, and business insurers.
