Representative Travaris McCurdy (D-Orlando) issued the following statement on HB 7, which the Governor signed this afternoon:
“DeSantis continues to abuse his power by pushing partisan legislation to secure his spot in the 2024 presidential election without a second thought on how it effects Floridians.
This is a part of the reason for the demonstration on the House floor yesterday. My colleagues and I are tired of voting on unconstitutional legislation and ignoring the issues that are affecting the people who put us in office.
Unemployment, property insurance and housing affordability are just some of the real issues that our constituents are dealing with. Yet, the governor chooses to focus on removing special districts, teaching sexual education in K-3, and diluting the black vote across the state.”
