Florida long term care providers gather to expand knowledge, celebrate
caregivers, discuss innovations in quality care and facility operations
The Florida Health Care Association (FHCA) today kicked off its 2022 Annual Conference & Trade Show, which will provide hundreds of attendees the opportunity to hear from state and national leaders about their profession. The five-day FHCA Annual Conference, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando, brings together nearly 1,000 long term care executives, nursing center and assisted living facility administrators, nurses, and others working in the profession, along with industry product and service providers, for educational sessions and award recognitions.
“The long term care sector faces many challenges today, yet our members remain deeply committed to delivering high-quality care for all our residents,” said Emmett Reed, FHCA Chief Executive Officer. “This year’s conference theme is ‘Celebrate the Sunshine State,’ and that’s exactly what attendees will experience as they come together to increase their knowledge and celebrate their quality achievements.”
Educational sessions at the conference will focus on supporting providers with enhanced clinical outcomes, technology and quality innovations, regulatory compliance, recruitment and retention efforts, and financial and facility operations.
Featured guests include American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) President & CEO Mark Parkinson, a former Kansas governor, and NCAL Executive Director LaShuan Bethea, who will highlight recent funding and regulatory proposals for nursing centers and assisted living facilities coming out of Washington, D.C.; Florida Agency for Health Care Administration Deputy Secretary/State Survey Agency Director Kimberly Smoak, who will provide state and federal updates on how caregivers and regulators will ensure quality care for Florida seniors; and Florida Department of Health State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Medical Director Dr. Angus Jameson, who will provide an update on therapeutic treatments for COVID-19. Florida Rep. Colleen Burton (R-Lakeland), chair of the Health & Human Services Committee, will join attendees on Tuesday to be recognized as an FHCA Legislative Champion for the Elderly.
Throughout the week, annual Long Term Care Achievement Awards will be presented to recognize the top nursing home and assisted living facility administrators and volunteers and a nursing center resident for their contributions to quality long term care in Florida. Additionally, Florida facilities earning the Governor’s Gold Seal for Excellence in Long-Term Care, Joint Commission accreditation, and AHCA/NCAL National Quality Awards will also be honored.
FHCA’s Annual Conference is sponsored by Marsh McLennan Agency, Bouchard Region. The event will run through August 4, and attendees will have the opportunity to earn up to 23 hours of continuing education. A 280-booth trade show takes place Monday and Tuesday, August 1 and 2.
