I am writing to thank Governor DeSantis for his proclamation recognizing September 26-30 as National Clean Energy Week 2022 in Florida. This proclamation was one of the first in the nation this year to formally recognize the occasion.
Florida has continually improved its use of clean energy resources, especially solar energy. The clean energy sector supports over 40,000 jobs in Florida, which is important because energy is truly the backbone of a strong economy.
In the proclamation, Governor DeSantis also notes the economic importance of clean energy, saying, “Florida is home to clean energy industry-leading producers of power generation systems, a variety of solar technology companies, biofuel producers, battery and fuel cell manufacturers, expanding natural gas infrastructure and two zero carbon emission nuclear power plants.”
Governor DeSantis’ proclamation affirms his steadfast commitment to reducing carbon emissions while promoting American energy security and competitiveness, economic development, and job creation supported by clean energy industries.
I know I speak for many in applauding Governor DeSantis’ leadership in driving American energy innovation and developing affordable, clean energy sources in Florida. His leadership will continue to expand the state’s energy portfolio and strengthen our economy.
