Joint Task Force Florida (JTTF) has 5,164 personnel activated and is executing missions in response to Hurricane Ian.
The Task Force has supported 222 missions, including executing search and rescue (SAR) missions throughout southwest and central Florida. JTTF members have rescued and evacuated more than 2,300 citizens from flooded areas.
The JTTF continues to execute a major airlift operation to transport engineering assets, security personnel, and humanitarian aid/commodities to the southwest Florida barrier islands.
Twenty-eight Point of Distribution (POD) sites manned by Guardsmen are operational, distributing food, water, ice, and tarps to local populations. As of yesterday, these sites distributed 2,099 pallets of water, 1,776 pallets of food, 438 pallets of ice, and 67 pallets of tarps. More than 70,000 vehicles have passed through the PODs to pick up this humanitarian aid.
Task Force engineering resources have also been deployed to assist with route clearance in Pinellas, Charlotte and Lee Counties. Guardsmen continue to assist law enforcement with roving patrols, security, traffic control and curfew enforcement missions.
In addition, the Task Force is also supporting missions that include staffing and supporting the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee, the State Logistics Response Center (SLRC) in Orlando and eight county Emergency Operations Centers.
