Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Secretary Eric Hall today announced the following new appointments to the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention State Advisory Group. The Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention State Advisory Group, based on federal guidelines for representation, consists of leaders from across the state of Florida who have the training, experience, or special knowledge of the juvenile justice system. Members of the Juvenile Justice State Advisory Group are responsible for providing guidance in support of DJJ’s federally funded activities, while also engaging with the department in the implementation and monitoring of its strategic priorities which are focused on building stronger youth, stronger families, and safer communities.
Dr. Margaret “Peggy” Aune
Dr. Aune is the vice chancellor for Strategic Improvement at the Florida Department of Education. Dr. Aune is a member of Leadership Florida Education Class III and the State Health Improvement (SHIP) Steering Committee. She is a past member of the School Superintendents Association and the Florida Association of School Administrators. Dr. Aune earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Florida Gulf Coast University and earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Florida.
Lindsay Bettis
Bettis is Miss Florida 2022 and currently serves as the community outreach director for Advanced Recovery Systems. She is a member of Project Opioid, the Orange County Drug-Free Coalition, and Florida Recovery Schools of Central Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Florida and is pursuing her master’s degree from the Louisiana State University Shreveport.
Jack Brewer
Brewer is the founder and executive director of the Jack Brewer Foundation. Brewer serves on the Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys within the United States Commission on Civil Rights. Brewer earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Minnesota.
Jack Campbell
Campbell is the state attorney for the 2nd Judicial Circuit. Campbell serves as vice president of the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association and board member of the Justice Administrative Commission. Campbell received his bachelor’s degree from the Florida State University and his juris doctorate from Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law.
Michelle Cook
Cook is the sheriff of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Cook serves as a member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association, co-chair of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Regional Domestic Security Task Force, and commissioner of the Florida Commission for Accreditation. Cook earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Florida. Cook is also a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executives (LEEDS – Session 80) training.
Dr. Angela Garcia Falconetti
Dr. Garcia Falconetti is the president of Polk State College. Dr. Garcia Falconetti serves as a commissioner on the Education Commission of the States and is a member of the Excelencia in Education and Excelencia in Action Network’s Presidents for Latino Student Success and the Florida Chamber Foundation Board. Dr. Garcia Falconetti earned a bachelor’s degree from New York University and earned a master’s degree and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of North Florida. Dr. Garcia Falconetti also completed an endowed post-doctoral fellowship with The University of Texas at Austin and served as special assistant to the nation’s first Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Colleges.
Brian Ford
Ford is the manager of constituent events for Special Olympics Florida. Ford served as secretary of the Sport Management Student Association at the Florida State University and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Florida State University.
Glenton “Glen” Gilzean
Glenton “Glen” Gilzean Jr. has been appointed to serve as chair of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention State Advisory Group. Professionally, Gilzean serves as president and CEO of the Central Florida Urban League. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree from the University of South Florida’s Center of Entrepreneurship.
Elmo Golden
Golden is a mentor for Dignity Speaks, Inc. and program director for the Jack Brewer Foundation. Golden serves as lead volunteer and podcaster for Lean on Me USA.
Tony Lloyd
Lloyd is the assistant secretary for Administration at the Florida Department of Children and Families. As a member of the armed forces, Lloyd served in several leadership roles with the Georgia Army National Guard and Joint Detention Operations Group in Cuba. He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgia Southern University.
Gabriel Moreno
Moreno is an intern at the Florida Attorney General’s Office and a current fellow at Florida State University’s Institute of Politics. Moreno is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree at the Florida State University.
Dr. Debra Pace
Dr. Pace is the superintendent of the Osceola County School District. Dr. Pace earned her bachelor’s degree from Auburn University, and both a master’s degree and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Central Florida.
Hunter Pollack
Pollack is a Florida gubernatorial fellow at the Florida Department of Education. Pollack earned his bachelor’s degree from the Florida State University and is currently pursuing his juris doctorate at the Florida State University College of Law.
Angie Rivera
Rivera is a recent high school graduate and valedictorian of Pace Center for Girls. Rivera was a former secretary of the Pace Center for Girls’ Leadership Council and was a member of Leadership Grow of Palm Beach County. Rivera currently serves as a 2022 Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Youth Ambassador.
Antron “Tron” Reynolds
Reynolds is a published children’s author and former teacher for the Bay County School District. Reynolds earned his associate degree from Gulf Coast State College.
