The Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation to kick off a week
of events with remarks from DEP Deputy Secretary John Truitt.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a proclamation declaring November 14-18 as Florida Recycles Week. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Florida Recycling Partnership Foundation (FRPF) are coordinating a week of free educational events to encourage all Floridians to recycle.
Scheduled events include:
- Nov. 14, 2022: Celebrate Recycling — A webinar featuring DEP Deputy Secretary John Truitt along with presentations by Brent Bell, Vice President of Recycling, Waste Management and Elizabeth DeWitt, President & CEO, Florida Beverage Association. Webinar sponsored by Waste Management.
- Nov. 15, 2022: America Recycles Day — DEP will present Highlands Elementary School in Lake Worth, the Green Apple Award for their commitment to create a healthier environment for students, employees and communities. Immediately following the presentation, FRPF members will provide a fun and educational program on what and how to properly recycle. This event is sponsored by Coca-Cola Beverages Florida and will be held at 500 Highland Avenue, Lake Worth. The awards assembly will begin at 8:30 a.m. Interested media must RSVP to [email protected] to attend the assembly.

- Nov. 16, 2022: “Recycling on the Go” — Join Keep Brevard Beautiful, Florida Ports Council and Port Canaveral at Jetty Park for a beach cleanup and educational sessions about how to recycle when you are away from the home or office. This event, sponsored by Niagara Bottling and Wawa, will be held at 9035 Campground Circle, Cape Canaveral, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
- Nov. 17, 2022: “Food Waste Prevention Day” — Get helpful tips on food waste prevention, food sharing programs and composting by following @flrecycling on twitter and @FLRecyclingFoundation on Facebook.
- Nov. 18, 2022: NEWS CONFERENCE, Recycling Awards at the Florida Capitol — DEP will announce the Recycling Recognition Award winners and FRPF will announce its Recycling Champion Award winners at 11 a.m. on the front steps of the Old Capitol, located at 400 S. Monroe St., Tallahassee.
