January 17, 2023 Declared Children’s Home Society of Florida Day

Posted on January 18, 2023

Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, Governor Ron Desantis and members of the Florida Cabinet recognized January 17, 2023 as Children’s Home Society of Florida Day – a proclamation in recognition of the organization’s 120-year history and its contributions to children and families statewide.

Founded on November 17, 1902, Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) was established as a child welfare society focused on placing children in safe, loving healthy homes. Over CHS’ 120-year legacy, the organization has evolved to also deliver early childhood programs, provide in-home solutions that stabilize and strengthen families, mental health counseling, mentoring, outreach and job training as well as the innovative community partnership schools™ model that’s transforming outcomes in 36 schools statewide – with CHS a core partner in 27.

The proclamation states:

Children’s Home Society of Florida has been the leader in enacting change for children, from driving policy establishing child labor laws and compulsory education laws to fiercely advocating for children’s rights in foster care and developing innovative solutions that turn odds into opportunities for children and their parents.

CHS state and local leaders along with clients and members of the board of directors gathered at the Capitol to celebrate Children’s Home Society of Florida Day.

“It is incredible to think of all of the families that have been positively impacted by Children’s Home Society of Florida’s 120-years of service,” said CHS President & CEO, Andry Sweet. “I am forever grateful to the CHS team members working in communities throughout the state of Florida to ensure children have the opportunities they need to realize their full potential and to all the supporters of CHS who make this work possible.”
