Leader Lauren Book Responds to the Governor’s 2023-2024 Budget Priorities

Posted on February 2, 2023

“While the Governor’s budget is a recommendation and guide to his own priorities as the Executive of our State, passing a balanced budget is the official task of the Florida Legislature each session. As Senate Democratic Leader, I am glad to see bipartisan priorities in the Governor’s proposed budget, such as historic tax breaks for hardworking Floridians.

While we may see much common ground at first glance, the devil is in the details for issues like teacher pay and public safety. Florida’s budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year has a long way to go, and Florida Senate Democrats will fight to make sure everyday working people remain at the forefront of budget priorities. I urge Floridians to stay engaged and make their voices heard.”
