The Florida Lottery (Lottery) joins the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) to recognize the 2023 Problem Gambling Awareness Month. The month of March is dedicated to raising awareness of the prevention, treatment, and recovery services available for those adversely affected by gambling.
“The Lottery is proud to join the NCPG and others in our gaming industry as we continue to stress the importance of responsible play and to increase public awareness about problem gaming,” said Florida Lottery Secretary John F. Davis. “I believe our recurring efforts over the years to educate our players, retailers, vendors, and employees has led and continues to lead to a safer playing environment for everyone.”
Lottery games are designed to be a fun form of entertainment for adults with the added benefit of generating additional revenue for Florida’s students and schools. The Lottery encourages responsible gaming by following these tips designed to help players make informed decisions throughout their Lottery experience:
- NEVER think of the Lottery as a way to make money.
- ALWAYS play within your means and set a budget.
- NEVER chase your losses.
- ALWAYS know when to ask for help.
- NEVER play when you are upset or depressed.
The Lottery continues to build responsible gaming best practices into all aspects of its operations. We received the highest level of responsible gaming certification from the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) and NCPG in 2018; and a certification for responsible gaming from the World Lottery Association (WLA) in 2019.
