Representative Gantt Responds to HB 837

Posted on March 8, 2023

HB 837 – Civil Remedies was heard in the House Judiciary Committee today. House Bill 837 will have a significant impact on Florida’s civil justice system by denying individuals the ability to seek justice through the courts.

Representative Ashley V. Gantt (D-Miami) released the following statement:

“This bill creates a Florida where citizens are at the mercy of big insurance companies. It alleges to address issues that do not presently exist, while creating the reality of Floridians not having the ability to have freedom of choice for healthcare, drastically limiting access to the courts, and robbing citizens of protections that hold insurance companies accountable. This bill gives Goliath the stones and the slingshot.”
