FDOT to Host a Construction Open House for the State Road (SR) A1A/Blue Heron Boulevard Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Posted on March 15, 2023

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a Construction Open House both in-person and virtually for the Palm Beach County SR A1A/Blue Heron Boulevard Bridge Rehabilitation Project over the Intracoastal Waterway from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023.

To attend the meeting online from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., please use the following link: https://fdot.cc/Blue-Heron-Blvd-Bridge-VPM. Participants may also join the meeting by dialing: 1 (877) 309-2071, Access code: 874-656-387. During the online session, there will be brief presentations followed by comments and questions from the public. Project staff will be available to answer questions and discuss the project. Questions will be answered as time allows and in the order received. If a question is not addressed during the meeting, a response will be provided in writing following the meeting. If you are not able to join the online session, you may view the recorded meeting posted at: https://www.d4fdot.com/pbfdot/index.asp.

The in-person meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Riviera Beach Marina Event Center, Hatcher Ballroom, located at 190 E. 13th Street, Riviera Beach. The in-person session will have an informal open house format with project staff available to answer questions and discuss the project. Project documents will be available at the meeting.

The project improvements in the City of Riviera Beach consist of replacing portions of the bridge deck in the outside westbound lane and repairing concrete on the bridge foundations. Improvements also include milling and resurfacing the roadway at each end of the bridge and adding new pavement markings.

On March 20, the beach under the bridge at Phil Foster Park will close to accommodate the deck replacement. It will remain closed until fall 2023.

Construction is beginning in March 2023 and is anticipated to be completed in late 2023. The estimated construction cost is $4.4 million.

Public participation is solicited without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, disability, or family status. Pursuant to the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act, any person requiring special accommodations should advise the agency at least seven days in advance by contacting the project manager listed below. If you are hearing or speech impaired, please contact the agency using the Florida Relay Service, 1 (800) 955-8771 (TDD) or 1 (800) 955-8770 (Voice).
